What makes it “Green”?

These days, every company is coming out with this or that “green’ product. It’s not just calling a product that makes it green, but what Environmental Standards if meets or exceeds.

Trashed Green Gel has it’s environmental statement smack down the middle of the bottles labels. It shows us what all the standards it meets or beats:

Trashed Green Gel when used according to directions has low toxicity to aquatic life, each of the organic ingredients in the product exhibit ready biodegradability in accordance with the OECD definition and do not contain prohibited ingredients. It meets (ASTM) D4488-95, A5– it is non toxic to humans, does not contain any ingredients that are carcinogens or that are known to cause reproductive toxicity. As tested by the OECD Guidelines for Testing Chemicals, Section 406, it is not combustible, does not contain substances that contribute significantly to the production of photochemical smog, tropospheric ozone, or poor indoor-air quality and meets established volatile organic content (VOC) limits. Its primary surfactant (base) is a US EPA Design for Environment (DfE) surfactant. It meets all CARB standards and is APEO & Phosphate Free. In addition to the above, it is tested and approved by the Carpet & Rug Institute for use as a pre-spray. Next time someone says their product is green, ask them for their Environmental claims!

Dr Micahel Berry in his researched “Green Cleaning” article that was published in Cleanfax magazine mentions the importance of other things to the product being green. For example, the product packaging, the transportation cost, recycling, etc. Trashed Green Gel is the most concentrated product made. 1/2 oz makes an entire ready to use gallon. The size of the bottle is 1/4 of any other product. Why is it important to have the Carpet and Rug Institute logo?

The Carpet and Rug Institute overseas the quality of the products used for carpets and rugs that it has thoroughly tested on carpeting for:

Efficacy (removing stains), resoiling (whether the product attracts soil at an accelerated rate), pH (excessively acid or alkaline products can affect dyes and fibers), optical brighteners (can adversely affect color, appearance and performance) and colorfastness to light (residues on pile yarn can accelerate color change)

It is also important to point out that carpet manufacturers warranties say that CRI approved products must be used when cleaning carpeting that has the manufacturer’s warrant effective.

DESCRIPTION: TRASHED GREEN GEL is the safest product on the market that actually works unbelievably well and it is the only product you will need as a pre-spray and detergent on carpet, furniture and hard surfaces. TRASHED GREEN GEL is a special blend of surfactants and hydrogen peroxide boosted with citrus solvent that gives it unbelievable cleaning power! DIRECTIONS: As a prespray: Light to Medium soiling: Use 1/2 oz (4 pumps) to make a gallon. In a hydroforce (1:9) Add 4 oz (32 pumps) & rest water. Heavy soiling: Use a heavier dilution (caution: excessive foaming will occur – use defoamer). As a detergent: 1/2 oz for every 10 gallons. In truckmount stock solution add 4 oz (32 pumps) to your 5 gallon stock solution. When finished using this product, put back the vented cap for prolong storage. Do not leave in hot sun.

Updated information for cleaning hard surfaces with Trashed Green Gel prior to applying sanitizers.

Add 1/2 oz (4 pumps) to a gallon of water, then apply to the surface being cleaned. Let it sit for 10 minutes before wiping.   Trashed Green Gel contains Hydrogen Peroxide in addition to surfactants.  According to the CDC, Centers of Disease Control & Prevention, “Hydrogen Peroxide is active against a wide range of microorganisms, including bacteria, yeasts, fungi, viruses, and spores.”
