Kool-aid and other synthetic dyes go to the dye sites of carpets and make the stain look permanent. Even after cleaning, you will see these stains. Red 1 and the original Red Relief work by removing the oxygen from the stain, thus rendering it invisible. At times, you may see a yellow stain left behind, that simply has to be rinsed out.
Don’t be fooled by the names of these products. The stains don’t have to be red, just synthetic. So, for example Wine stain is red, but it is not synthetic. Therefore, products like these that remove oxygen will not work on wine. For wine, you need to add oxygen.
