How
To Make Money Pressure Washing
If you are looking to start
your own power washing business and want to know how to make money pressure
washing then here are some tips that should help you to start making money
pressure washing as a profession.
Learn the Business Lingo
Yes, I know, this is
supposed to be about how to make money pressure washing. But, you first need to speak the pressure
washing language so you can start understanding the little details that will
help you make money.
For example, do you know the
difference between power washing and pressure washing? Pressure washing is typically without heat
and power washing is with heat.
How about GPM? Do you know what that stands for and it?s
importance? GPM stands for gallons per minute.
That is the measure of how much water comes out of a pressure washer in one
minute ? the more the GPM, the faster the cleaning. But, the GPM from the
spicket is not unlimited. So, machines
that have over 4 gpm may require you to carry your own fresh water retaining
tank, also known as a buffer tank.
Learning the lingo will help
you understand equipment manufacturers descriptions, watching online videos and
more.
Study Your Market
One place I love to start is
the Government?s data that is available for free online, but is loaded with
some great information- especially demographics information.
I love the map function. It really helps me zone into an exact area.
As a rule of thumb, the
richer the area you service, the higher the demand for your service. The people just don?t tend to pick up a
pressure washer and pressure washing it themselves. I find the same to be true for commercial
businesses as well. The larger companies
that have more money tend to hire our services.
I?m not even implying that
you target only the rich people and businesses, but when targeting apartments
or shared business condominiums, the renters don?t make the hiring decision, it?s
the property managers. So, target them instead.
Find A Unique Marketing
Angle
In order to make money pressure
washing you need to find a unique marketing angle to attract potential
customers to your business. For example, instead of simply marketing your
business as pressure washing, why not marketing it as a benefit for your
customers such as saving them time, helping to improve the curb appeal of their
home etc.
Consider Leasing Your
Equipment
I?m a big advocate of having
working capital available to survive slow times. Instead of tying your working capital, think
about financing your equipment. Little
monthly payments, until you own your equipment make it easy for you to survive slow
times with emergency funds in your bank account.
Be Prepared to Work Long
Hours
When starting out you really
need to be hands on and do most if not all of the work yourself at least until
your business grows to the point where you really need the extra help to keep
up with business. This means you will have to be really dedicated to your
business and willing to put in the long hours in order to start making money at
your business.
But, soon you will be able
to grow your business to the point where you will hire your first
employee. There is no limit in this
business, I have many friends who make millions of dollars a year from pressure
washing.
It?s a $13 billion industry
that is rapidly growing. How much of
that do you want for yourself?
